Andalusia: A Timeless Culture of Excellence
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu alikum,
Hope this message finds you well and at peace.
This month’s address is a little personal. I write it straight from the heart, without preparation or formal structure, because sometimes sincerity communicates deeper than planning ever can.
As you noticed, last month’s column did not make it to publication. Had it not been for a strong and unavoidable reason, I would never have missed it. Our editorial circle is small—very small—and the circumstances we work under are unique and demanding.
Quality over Quantity — Always
Despite our size, we have always held firmly to one guiding principle: excellence over abundance. If a choice must be made between publishing more or publishing better, we choose better—every time.
One sincere, strong article that influences a reader is worth more than ten articles that merely fill space. This is not only for the sake of credibility—though that matters deeply—but also for the sake of reviving a Muslim culture of excellence, a culture that once marked our civilization and lifted it to global prominence.
Look carefully at what you offer the world. Be mindful of its quality. Set your standards high and do not settle for less. Hold firmly to your dream and consider the legacy you will leave behind.
Look to Andalusia — Learn the Spirit Behind the Glory
The Muslims who built Andalusia were not driven by mediocrity. They were sincere. They worked with intention. They aimed high. They held fast to their identity, even as they engaged with other cultures. And that is why Allah granted them support, success, and lasting impact.
They did not imitate blindly. They pioneered. They contributed. They created. Their knowledge travelled across continents. Their inventions and ideas reshaped the world. Their civilization became a reference of refinement, innovation, and beauty.
Look up to the Andalusian model and grasp its spirit — a spirit that reflects a culture of excellence.
- Study history, yet stay rooted in your present.
- Engage with other cultures, yet preserve your Muslim identity.
- Learn from others’ experiences, yet contribute your own input.
We must be sincere to our faith and at the same time practical, productive, and excellent in what we do. This is how nations rise. This is how civilizations are reborn.
Reviving the Andalusian Spirit Today
If we wish to reclaim our strength as an Ummah, we must study our present honestly, recognize our capabilities, and commit to excellence. We can become strong again—powerful again—pioneers again. But this requires firm faith and sound religion, paired with real work, high standards, and unwavering consistency.
A Final Word
Let us aim high. Let us think big. Let us revive the culture of excellence that once shaped our history—and can shape our future again.
