I always set my intention firm to stick to the Sunnah path, the path of our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. But regrettably, each time I set my heart to such intention I fail to commit… Please help me!

Dear Shaikh, Assalamu alikum,

I always set my intention firm to stick to the Sunnah path, the path of our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

But regrettably, each time I set my heart to such intention I fail to commit. Not because I don’t want to, and not that I take such matter trivially or think of it as not very important- also it’s not that I am hypocrite, for deep inside I truly need to keep committed to the Sunnah path and follow, strictly, the footsteps of our beloved prophet, may he be blessed.

It just happens for so many reasons, which I’m sure there’s a way to overcome, and for which I seek your guidance.

Sometimes because of time, and so I fail to pray all supererogatory prayers. Sometimes the heart is too much attached to the world and thus is not prepared to fast on Monday and Thursday and the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each month in the Muslim Calendar. Also sometimes I feel that there are so many matters that shape the character that follows the path of the Sunnah and I see myself as far from such character, thus, and out of despair, my will power to stick to the Sunnah dwindles.

And so on and so forth.

I heard that one way of seeking to see the Prophet in one’s sleep is strictly following his Sunnah, and I really wish to see him in my sleep at least once.

Please help me remain on the Sunnah path, so that I may earn the blessings of Allah and the love of his Prophet.

May Allah reward you greatly my dear Shaikh.

Tired Soul.
