Is Islam Feared? 🕊️
“Be watchful of what the West wants you to think, believe, and live, for this is the modern method of war. Sending warships is too classical, yet it may occur when Muslims are weakened by subtler methods — just as in Andalusia. History repeats itself.”
Why Write Today?
Recent news highlighted a disturbing headline from a British journal: “Pentagon instructor urged total war with Islam.” The article claimed that a U.S. military instructor advocated extreme measures, including attacking Mecca and Medina. Such instances, though not widespread or official policy, reflect the fear Islam evokes in certain circles due to its historical influence, growth, and values.
The Power of Islamic Civilization
Islam’s legacy includes the Conquest of Mecca, the expansions across Asia and North Africa, Andalusia, Constantinople, and the brilliance of Baghdad as a center of learning. Muslim scholars contributed enormously to science, medicine, philosophy, art, and mathematics for over a millennium. This history illustrates why some policymakers may perceive Islam as a formidable force.
Modern Subtle Methods of Influence
War is no longer limited to armies; today, media, entertainment, and cultural influences are powerful tools. Cartoons, movies, soap operas, and social trends can subtly shape values, distract, and mislead generations. Obsessions with appearance, consumerism, and materialism often keep nations preoccupied while weakening societal cohesion and spiritual awareness.
Remaining Vigilant
Muslims must remain alert and informed without generalizing or cultivating hatred. Islam’s growth and values pose a challenge to certain agendas, but understanding history, maintaining awareness, and nurturing strong communities will protect identity and heritage.
Peaceful coexistence is the goal, but awareness of subtle influences is essential for resilience.
A Historical Reminder
Just as the fall of Andalusia reminds us of vulnerability to both overt and covert strategies, Muslims today must uphold knowledge, faith, and unity. History teaches lessons, and our responsibility is to learn and act wisely.
