This week, I shall provide you with an incentive through which you can be motivated to pray those Sunnah units which regrettably don’t seem that important to many. Your incentive is a house in Paradise inshaAllah! Read on.   When we are in a hurry, we often leave out the voluntary Sunnah rakahs of prayer suringthe day. What can our motivation be to pray the Sunnah Prayers  in addition to the Fardh (Obligatory Prayer)? Shouldn’t we just do the bare minimum which is required of us so that to fulfill the obligatory Fardh acts as we will be questioned on the Day of Judgement? Shortcut # 15 – Reward of 12 Voluntary Rakah Umm Habiba, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), reported Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as saying: “If any Muslim servant (of Allah) prays for the sake of Allaah twelve rak’ahs (of Sunnah) every day, over and above the obligatory ones, Allaah will build for him a house in Paradise, or a house will be built for him in Paradise; and I have not abandoned to observe them after (hearing it from the Messenger of Allaah). (So said also ‘Amr and Nu’man.) (Sahih Muslim, Book of prayer, Hadith 1581) From personal experience, committing to the non-obligatory Sunnah prayers helped me gain more khushoo (sincerity and concentration) during the obligatory prayers. It also provided me a good opportunity to keep revising whatever portion of the Qur’an I have memorized. If you pray regularly in the mosque, try observing the Sunnahs when you are at home as Ibn ‘Umar reported Allaah’s Prophet (pbuh) as saying: ‘Observe some of your prayers in your houses and do not make them graves.’ (Sahih Muslim, Book of Prayer, Hadith 1703) Do go through our previous Shortcuts to Jannah to find out how you can gain immense rewards with the smallest of actions.   May Allah accept the best of your Duas and Deeds- Amen.   Stay tuned for more shortcuts to Jannah in the coming episodes inshaAllah.   And please remember us in your Dua.
