British gay Muslims have joined the world homosexuals’ fight for acceptance, announcing they actually seek marriage, according to a news report published a few weeks ago by UK’s leading news agency, BBC. Regardless of the fact that a growing number of countries and American states are starting to accept same-sex marriage as legal, the practice is equally rejected in Islam and Christianity, simply due of its devastating effect and the chaos inflicts upon the moral and social fabric of any society. According to Islam, same-sex marriage is reversal of God’s created order. It is kind of moral disorder that needs to be adressed wisely rather than submitting to it. It, moreover, infringes the limits prescribed by Allah the Almighty. Legalizing gay marriage shouldn’t be viewed as protecting people’s rights in any way. Some people claim that a sodomite is genetic. Besides the fact that this is scientifically incorrect, for sodomite is an undesirable and bad habit, similar to drugs or alcohol addiction, does this mean that sodomy should be accepted? Had sodomy and homosexuality been genetic, God wouldn’t have prohibited them in all legislation. In the Qur’an, Allah says; “And Lot! (Remember) when he said unto his folk: Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you? Lo! ye come with lust unto men instead of women. Nay, but ye are wanton folk.”- (Qur’an 7:80) Not only Islam, but also the Christian Bible includes many examples where homosexuality is condemned and prohibited; “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” – – NIV Leviticus 18:22] Another example from the Bible: “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”  – – [NIV Leviticus 20:13] When gay marriage was first introduced in Hawaii, a conservative Christian organization, Hawaii’s Future Today (HFT), filed a brief with the court rejecting it, saying that same-sex marriage would introduce “a radical reform in the basic institution of marriage, jettisoning long-recognized cultural values and drastically redefining the fundamental structure of our society…” Wassalaam, Maha Youssuf maha@muslimtribune.org Posted on: May 24, 2011
